Ingredients:
1 jar Orlando Grape Leaves
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup short grain rice
1 small chopped onion
1 tbsp salt
1/3 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp seven spices
1/3 cup olive oil
Handful of fresh garlic
1/4 cup lemon juice
Lamb rack (fits meal size of your family)
Crockpot/Pita bread/Fresh mint
Preparation:
Remove grape leaves from jar. Wash. Set aside while you prepare the filling.
In a bowl, mix ground beef, rice, onions, salt, black pepper, seven spices, and olive oil. Mix well by hand
Seperate grape leaves and remove stems
Place one leaf on a board or a plate. *Rough side up/soft side down
Place one tbsp of the mix in the centre of the leaf. Roll with sides rolled inwards. The roll should be firm but not too tight.
Lamb preparation:
Rub salt, black pepper, and 5 tbsp olive oil on lamb rack. Heat a skillet and sear for 5minutes on each side.
Place the half cooked lamb rack at the bottom of the crockpot *Do not add the lamb juice. Place grape leaves on top of the lamb rack arranged closely together. Add a handful of fresh garlic.
Take a plate and place it upside down on top of the grape leaves. Add water to cover the plate. Cook overnight. Add lemon juice at the end of the cooking process.
Serve with pita bread and fresh mint.
