I cook this delicious delightful recipe from my heart and by heart. My whole family loves it and they love to gather around it on any occasion.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground lean lamb or 1 pound ground beef
1 whole chicken
2 cups Basmati rice
2 onions
Salt
7 spices
1 tsp cinnamon
2 cinnamon sticks
4 cloves
Mustak (Arabic gum, optional)
1/3 tsp nutmeg
Pine nuts
2 tbsp olive oil
Preparation:
Bring a pot to a boil. Add salt, one onion, cinnamon sticks, 1/3 tsp nutmeg, 2 pebbles of mustak, and 4 cloves.
Add the whole chicken. Cover and cook on low heat until chicken starts falling off the bone (about an hour)
In a pot, add the olive oil and sautee one chopped onion. Add salt
Add the ground lamb to the onion. Add salt, seven spices, and cinnamon. Cook on low heat.
Add two cups Basmati to the ground lamb
Add 4 cups chicken broth to the pot.
Add salt to the rice, slowly stir and bring to a boil (1 cup rice for two cups chicken broth)
Cover and cook on low heat until water is completely absorbed
In the meantime, remove the chicken from the bone and set aside.
Serve the cooked lamb and rice on a serving plate. Add the chicken on top of your dish
Sprinkle with cinnamon
Sautee your choice of nuts and add to your flavorful dish.
Serve with salad or yoghurt
