Hummus or chickpeas, a beloved snack or appetizer that has traveled all across the world. Because Hummus is so much loved, the question of its origin varies :)
Could the origin be Egypt? Syria? Israel? Lebanon? Palestine? Or Turkey?
The answer is wide and my answer to who holds the origin of hummus is the one who cooks the chickpeas at home and the one who adds a touch of love to it.
Today's Hummus is unique. Cook the chickpeas at home, add a tbsp of peanut butter, with a drizzle of olive oil. That is the origin!!!
Ingredients:
1 cup cooked chickpeas *Direction for cooking chickpeas in yoghurt hummus recipe
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp peanut butter
2 tbsp tahini paste
1 small minced garlic
1 lemon juice
4 small cubes of ice
Olive oil, mint, basil, pomegranate seeds, handful of roasted pistachios or peanuts for garnish *In a skillet, add 1 tbsp olive oil to roast peanuts/ pistachios
Pita bread or chips
Preparation:
In a food processor, add the chickpeas with salt and peanut butter. Pulse on high. Add the tahini with ice cubes, garlic and lemon juice. Mix on high speed until the ice cubes melt.
Serve on a plate. Garnish with love
