We have recipes that have been loved and lost. This recipe is one of my favorites only because grandma puts her heart in it.
Mujammara, is basically cooked milk with pearl rice, ground mystic gum, and rose water.
Ingredients:
2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup pearl rice or Arborio rice
2 tbsp cornstarch
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 ground mystic gum
1/4 cup rose water
1/2 cup butter
Handful of ground pistachios
Preparation:
Bring 2 cups water to a boil. Add rice. Cover and cook until water is completely absorbed.
Add milk to rice. Dilute cornstarch in 1/2 cup water. Add cornstarch to milk.Cook on medium to low heat until milk thickens.
Add mystic, add sugar, add rose water.
Heat oven to 375 degrees F
Brush a small pan with butter. Pour milk pudding into pan. Pour remaining butter on milk pudding.Bake for about 15 minutes
Remove from oven. Sprinkle with ground pistachios.
