Thyme lovers, during our short summer stay in Lebanon, my sister in law introduced me to a very cool neat store called Sugar And Almond لوز وسكر
Sugar And Almond runs in one of the busiest streets in Barboor and carries the cutest burlap sacks of freekeh( cracked wheat), adas( lentils), hummus(garbanzos), and Zaatar (thyme). Not only one kind of Zaatar but 5. Zaatar with nuts, Zaatar with pomegranate, Zaatar with sumac and more.
I know that Sugar And Almond is unreachable for many but here I am sharing a thyme baking tip for many. Zaatar lovers, when baking thyme bread, bake the dough half way through then add thyme mixed with olive oil to avoid burning the amazing unique taste of thyme mix.
Ingredients:
6 tbsp thyme
1/3 cup olive oil
Your choice of dough/ homemade/pillsbury croissant/pizza dough/etc
Preparation:
Heat oven to 375 degrees
Mix 6 tbsp thyme with 1/3 cup olive oil
Lay dough flat on counter top. Roll dough and cut into circles.
Line a pan with parchment paper. Arrange dough on pan. Bake for 4-5 minutes. Remove pan from oven. Spread thyme mix on dough. Return tray back to oven and bake for another 2 -3 minutes.
Serve for breakfast lunch or dinner,YUM
