Fig addicts,
Marhaba and Happy Eid
Everything looks so beautiful and so green around me. Seasonal fruits and vegetables taste delicious too. And guess what, we are getting close to the end of fall and end of fall means ripe figs, a big YUM and a big CHEER
Today, as I was running out of time, I was thinking of something sweet to make to celebrate Eid Al Adha but then I thought....Hmmmm...not everything that is delicious needs to be sweet . Soooo, I had a box of figs in the fridge, and just like Winnie-the pooh bear says,"Think Think Think", I thought and thought and thought. Boom!!!!!!!
Baked fig bread with sweet cheese, the perfect way to celebrate the end of a memorable day in a beautiful season.
Ingredients:
For the dough
1 cup flour
2 tbsp fig butter (melted) for dough. 1 tsp melted fig butter for kneading
1/2 cup warm water
Pinch of salt
1/3 tsp yeast
Dilute the yeast in water. Place all ingredients in a mixer or blender. Pulse for 4 minutes to form a dough. Place dough on a plate. Cover and rest for an hour.
For the topping:
1 cup chopped sweet cheese
7 sliced figs
Preparation:
Heat oven to 350 degrees
Spread the melted butter on a flat surface or counter top. Roll dough into desired shape. Prepare a baking pan. Brush pan with fig butter. Place rolled dough on pan. Sprinkle with cheese and figs. Place in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes
