Cheese lovers, Marhaba
I love making dessert with Sweet Cheese. It is light tasting, meltable, and has a creamier feel to it!
Today, I have prepared Halawet il Ruz to celebrate my daughter's friend graduation ceremony. " Halawet" in Arabic means sweet and "Ruz" means rice. Very authentic dessert full of flavor and fragrance. Roll up your sleeves and keep stirring the cheese!!!
Ingredients:
4 cups shredded sweet cheese
2 cups pearl rice
2 cups sugar
1 tsp mystic
1/3 cup rose water
Pistachios
Preparation:
Soak rice in water for about an hour. Wash rice. Place rice in a pot. Add water to cover rice and cook until water is completely absorbed. Place rice in a blender and blend to smooth.
Prepare a metal skillet for cooking. Add mushed rice to skillet. Add sugar to rice and mix. Place on stove (low heat) and stir until sugar is completely melted. Add cheese to rice and stir stir stir for about 25 minutes. Add mystic gum at the end of stirring. Add rose water.
Serve Halawet on a platter. Add ground pistachios
